Frayn Garrick Utley was born on Dec. 24, 1903 in Faulkton, South Dakota, to Adam Alexander and Reata (Frayn) Garrick. She earned a B.E. from UCLA in 1926 and an M.A. from the University of Chicago in 1930. Frayn Garrick married Clifton Utley, a Chicago NBC radio and (later) television commentator, on Sept. 19, 1931. They had three children: David Garrick, Clifton Garrick, and Jonathan Garrick. Frayn Utley also worked as a reporter for NBC and moderated a daily half-hour radio show in 1940-1941. ...
